In our house, there are two little girls, Heidi and Adelyn. Both are under the age of 2. Heidi is just at the age where she responds physically to music, dancing and moving. Adelyn is still a little more sedate, but she loves sounds and will sit rapt or laugh at Heidi’s antics as she busts a move.
When I had the chance to get this album to try, I grabbed at it. It’s pretty awesome. The girls are a little young yet to pay much attention when we show them the included photos of the instruments that are being played, but they love the jazz and fun, groovy lyrics.
Groove Kid Nation’s Music In Motion is a professionally-produced CD with a lot of great kid’s songs and a great insert that has cartoons of the cats in the band playing their instruments so you can go along when they announce the instrument on the song and show your kids what is being played.
Even adults will like this. I know we do.
Here’s how the artists describe it:
Through groovy soul tracks, this mostly original set draws kids into the action with specific instructions on what to do from funny dances, to playing air guitar, to responding to musical cues, to simply nodding their heads to the beat.
The songs are familiar childhood favorites, jazzed up (of course), and several originals as well. Great stuff and anyone with children should have a copy!
